Example calculations

Material moisture content:

The material moisture content is determined with the measuring tool or can be calculated according to the following formula:
Material moisture content in % = (mass of water contained in the material  ∕ dry mass of the material) × 100

Water content of the material:

If the material moisture content is known, the water content of the material can be calculated according to the following formula:
Water content in % = [material moisture content  ∕  (100 + material moisture content)] × 100

Example 1: 100 % material moisture content

Water content in % = [100  ∕  (100 + 100)] × 100 = 50 %
Half of the material consists of water.

Example 2: 50 % material moisture content with 1 kg of wet material:

Water content in % = [50  ∕  (100 + 50)] × 100 = 33.3 %, corresponds to approx. 333.3 g of water.
The dry mass of the material amounts to 666.6 g.
